Dr Kostadinka Skandeva

Dr. Kostadinka Hadzijska Skandeva, was born and raised in Strumica, Macedonia. Moved to the United States on March 31, 1997 when she was 16 years old, with her parents and two older sisters. Dr. Skandeva completed her undergraduate studies at George Mason University, Fairfax, VA, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biology.  Dr. Skandeva continued on to study podiatric medicine at the Kent State University School of Podiatric Medicine (formerly known as Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine) in Cleveland, OH, from where she received an award for Academic Achievement and Excellence in Clinical/Research Work in Diabetic Foot Wound Care. While at KSUSPM she served as a delegate for the student chapter of the American Association for Women Podiatrists.
 
Upon graduation, she completed her residency training, as chief resident, at the Hunter Holmes McGuire Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Richmond, VA.  Her training was comprehensive in both medicine and forefoot and rearfoot surgery, with additional training in reconstructive rearfoot surgery, diabetic limb salvage, wound care as well as specialized training in minimally-invasive procedures and minimal incision surgical technique through a plastic surgery cooperative. As a chief resident Dr. Skandeva assisted in training fellow residents and students and often lectured at medical meetings.   
 
Dr. Skandeva, is the founder and owner of NOVA Foot and Ankle Center, which has been open since 2012. 
 
Dr. Skandeva is Board Certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery and a Diplomate of the American Board of Podiatric Medicine.
 
Dr. Skandeva is a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association, and Virginia Podiatric Medical Association. Dr. Skandeva has participated in many community health fairs and foot screenings, also has worked with many local community health clinics that serve the low income and underprivileged Virginians. 
 
In her free time, Dr. Skandeva loves to travel with her husband and daughter. Loves cooking, gardening and to take care of their many pets and read books. She also enjoys visiting many local farms.
